Garmap Website Closing Down

Discussion of the maps available in South Africa in the various sub-folders: Garmap, Navteq, T4A, OSM, etc.
More sub-folders will be created as we go along and the need arises.

Hi all,

I stand to be corrected, but I think the .GMA file downloads only apply to 2010/2011 mapsets. If the mapsets on Garmap are prior to these dates, all that is needed is for the member is to obtain the unlock keys for the mapsets that are registered with Garmap.

What I can see if I download various unit's gma files that I installed maps for friends and registered in my name is that U can download 2011, 2012 and 2013 but not 2010 and older.
So I suppose the older versions "familyxxxx" or was it xxxxfamily"? are not available anymore for download. I hope Garmin still got that unlock detail available somewhere.
HKGK!

Edit: Sorry Darryl, took me so long experimenting with the downloads, I did not see your post.

Ok, so it would seem the 2010 and older mapsets used the Product Serial Number and Unlock Key method. So users of these older mapsets would have to copy and paste both sets of numbers to a text file that Identifies it to a specific mapset. Please see attached image:-

Hope this helps.

Darryl

P.S. I also tried downloading the files and got "Connection Timed Out" errors from the Garmap server. This led me to conclude that this information will have to be manually recorded (copy and paste into a NotePad text document).
