I had a few minutes to play around with the Nuvi 55.
1 It did not connect to Mapsource.
2 When transferring a route planned on BaseCamp all I could find on the unit was the starting and end points of the route stored under Favourites. I could replicate the route using trip planner on the Nuvi. Not finding the transferred route could be due to ignorance on my side. The menus and screen layouts is completely different to that of the 52 with lots of new features added.
Apologies for not being able to complete confirm or refute the ability to accept route planned on BaseCamp. I would really need more time than what we had to play around more. I must say that the 55 is much more than a simple upgrade of the 52.

Re: Nuvi 55LM
Hi Jan,
I found the saved route under Trip planner on the unit.
It is the same with the Nuvi 3597 and Mapsource, it doesn't want to communicate, but I could still plan my route in Mapsource and then open it in Basecamp. One thing I found when opening the route in the Nuvi 3597, was that it gave me the option to optimize the route.
One other thing is that I have read somewhere that the 3597 gave you an option of multiple routes of which you then could choose. I wasn't able to find that yet.

Re: Nuvi 55LM
Thanks Swannie. I did not see it under Trip Planner. I will see if I can manage to borrow my friend's 55 for a few days

Thanks everyone for all the help, its great to have a forum like this where you can get practical help from guys that actually know what they are talking about and not just glip talk from a salesman trying to get a sale

Thanks Silver Fox. Because the 2015.4 update came through about an hour after My friend left I can ask him to come around again(there are a few changes around here that was included in the update) so its justified. I will have a stab at it again. Maybe I missed something the first time.

Re: Nuvi 55LM
Ok tried again and I am happy to report that the 55 can receive routes. I would be a very good buy.
