Nuvicam

My son got a Nuvicam as replacement for his 3597. It has a hefty price, but the camera feature is quite impressive. Does any one on this forum have any experience with the Nuvicam?

I have been fortunate enough to obtain a 2nd hand nuviCam in excellent condition.

I love the big screen, camera function as well as the forward collision warning. The real-time arrive function works quite well, where when you get near to your destination it switches to camera view with an indication of distance to your end point.

I have played around with the fw and were able to flash it to a fully functioning dezlCam and back to nuviCam. (Same hardware in both).

DezlCam will be great for truck drivers although I think our maps will not have all the trucking detail as in USA. Car mode in dezlCam is without lane-assist, forward collision warning and real-time arrive.

Battery life is about 20mins, so not good for out-of-vehicle use.

Video is good and clear enough, would have been nice if you could have accessed it via your cell phone. It's a bit of a pain to take the unit and plug into your pc/laptop to extract your video footage with Garmin DashCam Player software.

I have a Garmin 51 Drive assist. It also features forward collision warning and lane assist. It also suffer the same short battery life problem. What I do like is the warning when there is a change in the speed limit
