Google Streetview 2023 and Fixed Cams

#5617

Post by F.Viljoen »

Please help!
With the new streetview 2023 out, it is time to verify all Fixed Cameras whether they still are at the recorded geolocations.

I started with 40, 50 and now busy with 60.
It is a lot of work for 1 person.

If someone is willing to assist me, please just let me know here which cams you will cover.
eg FC100 from xxxx to yyyy, so we don't verify the same points.

Open the correct file as well as a second new mapsource file, named Remove.gdb or .gpx
Now open the point with View satellite Imagery on maps.Google.com
Look for the cam. Sometimes you must jump to the opposite road to see the cam.
Look at the bottom of Streetview for the date (2023, 2022 etc) If the date is shown anything older than
2018, don't even bother to zoom in.

Copy / paste the point that no longer exist into the Remove file and zip it when finished.

Now upload your Remove.zip file as a attachment to your post with a little comment.

See attached file as example.
Remove.zip
I will then double check your findings and report back here.

Thanks, in advance.
Frans

Looking at the 120Kmh Fixed Camera positions that we had on our forum data base and comparing it to Google Maps 2023, I can't believe that so many municipalities removed these fixed cameras. This was/is a big source of income for them. How do the other Fixed Cameras compare?
