Garmin drive 51 LMT-s shows can not unlock maps after update

Hi
Any one having a problem with the lateset 2024.2 map update, I updated my GPS Garmin Drive Smart 51 LMT-s with Garmin Express version 7.18.4.0, when ever I disconnect my gps from the computer or switch it on I get a error message " can not unlock maps" I updated my sons Garmin drive Assit 51 LMT-s the one as mine and that gps also gets the same error message, when you touch the error message on the screen the maps appear, on the gps the 2024.2 is the only map installed any ideas what is the problem un my on my Nuvi 2497 I have not recieved that error.

Hi Robert, Correcting the Message "Can't Unlock Maps" or "Can't Authenticate Maps"
This Can be Caused by:
Insufficient space on the units internal memory
Installing a memory card that contains maps intended for a different device. Remove the sd card before updating the unit
Copying maps from one device to another.
A problem or corruption with the data in the map file.
Incorrect or missing unlock information for an installed map. If the issue occurred as a result of updating the maps, reinstall the
maps. Install the mapset to your pc first as per attached screen shot, click on circle computer only.

High speed internet connection is needed ...if the map download, using Garmin Express, stays at Kb's per second during the download you will
surely pick up a problem. The initial download should start with Kb's per second and gradually increase to Mb's
If the device is being updated on a Windows computer, be sure to use the Safely Remove Hardware option (if available) after the update has
completed. Even though the update appears to complete, the write-caching feature on some computers may have not completely built or
transferred the map to the device. Ejecting the device before disconnecting it can prevent this error.
Attached is a zip file of JaVaWa GMTK. download and install it on your pc. From here, there is a couple of things you can do with it.

Hi Robert. I get the same error message on my 51 Drive assist. It seem to be a bug in the software of the new models. The maps are unlocked and is fully functional. It does not seem to affect anything. I will have a look on the Garmin forum to see if there is any mention of it.

On the Garmin Forum there is one post from someone with the same problem. The answer he received is to contact Garmin support as it is likely an issue with his account. Although he receives the same error message the unit show no functional map display. Garmin express show that his maps are UpToDate. Similar but somewhat different.

Thanks to all for advice recieved that is what makes the forum useful, Thanks Phillip, I reistalled the map andb used the safe removal abd seems that the problem is gone I will keep an eye out to see how it performs over the next few day and will post if it solved the problem thanks again to all for there advice given again.

Just a pleasure....glad you could solve the problem. Over time I've learned a lot with these navigation devices and applications and I also paid a lot of school fees as I went along.
