Checked with Makro Ottery if they had stock at that price and took their coordinates off their website and want get a 3590

Their GPS coords were wrong!

Sent them a mail:
"I went out to your Ottery Store this morning and typed the GPS coordinates in my Garmin 3790LT.
I landed up at Pick & Pay and the Driving School. Please correct your co-ordinates! Correct is S034°01'15.4" E018°30'51.8"

Downloading new maps etc from work is a pita so I will play tonight!

Unit is quite a bit bigger than the 3790 but fits in the wallet.

Wonder if it is worth trying to sell the 3790?? Cost a wack when I bought it more than a year ago. Lifetime Maps added another R1000 at the time.

Regards

I'll Swap you even with my 3790, IF you get to change your 3790 to a 3490

Funny that the 3590LT is 2999 at makro but 3999 at Cape Union !!!!

Am I OT here?
Hi Erich,

Agreed. Putting the pdf into a Jiffy ZipLock won't get it uploaded onto the forum (as per Frans) . However, please have a look at the attached image to see where you need to click to upload a file. Hope this helps.

Thanks Darryl, I will give it some attention during the morning - there are some pics worth publishing! (methinks anyway!)

Should I not move these Ramblings to another thread as it is now going about the 3590. The speculation and possible progress for converting a 3790 to 2495 can possibly remain here at 37XX but even under a "Converting .... heading?

3790 - Discontinued was a statement and discussion that should have been cut as soon as the flavour started to change??

Can the Forum Moderators do something like that?

Does this forum have a Spell Checker? (iSpell?) I use the Google Search Bar's Check option in any web page!

I was contemplating to suggest that the discussion be moved to the 35xx forum. I will have a look at where I can split the discussions to a alternative topic, I agree with you there. I also use the google tool bar spell checker, even on the old GF I found the Google option to be the better one.

Hi Jan and Erich,

Since altering the model and operation of one GPSr to resemble another is what is being discussed (by means of firmware), putting this into another forum to resemble such may be the idea. Maybe we should have a forum discussing converting in general (with the usual disclaimer about bricking the device) and then the necessary shifting of other topics to the relevant forums (replacement GPSr for others). Since we have been discussing things merrily "deurmekaar", sometimes it's nice to see how the thread develops. But I know for practical purposes it won't work.

Darryl

P.S. The forum software does have a spell checker, but only in "Engels" and only when you are typing a topic or reply.
