Hi Guys, Phillip Again. With reference to the above topic, I also contacted Garmin Europe, for the same problem. I received an answer, from a gentleman, named Lukasz. Did everything as per his instructions (attached), but to no avail. Awaiting his reply.

It is very annoying when you get that type of reply when you report a problem. It assumes that there is nothing wrong on their side and that the problem lies with the users. If your system coped with the previous update why would it not do for this update. I tend to agree with Joe that some of the data is corrupted. Another map vendor used a few users to pre test their releases to iron out all the wrinkles before it were released. It saved them a few red faces.

The GarminDevice.xml file calls within for a reference of D3529090A.Jcv
In the JCV directory the file D3529090A.jcv exist but the Unlock file and the gma file present in the directory is D3529060A.gma and D3529060A.unl

The date of these 2 files are 01/10/13.
Was that not perhaps the date of the 2014.3 version?

Yes Frans that would be the date you updated to 2014.3. I noticed that mapinstall create a "map" folder where it install the 2014.4 update to. It does not contain a .jcv file but does a funny gma file. Garmin express install to a hidden "system" folder. which contain the JCV folder which contains the .jcv and the other files you mention. I played around a bit but can't get it to work. I read on the Garmin forum that you need to copy the .jcv file to the SD card to make junction view work if you install the map there. I copied it to the "map" folder but it still did not work.

The path is SDCARD \Garmin\JCV\xxxxxx.jcv
On the nuvi it is \.System\JCV\xxxxxx.jcv

JCV file is updated every map update, 2014.3 jcv file will not work with 2014.4 map.
JCV File will work on the SD Card or the Nuvi as long as path is correct.

The "map" directory on either unit or Sd card will only contain the Zip of the Mapset and it's .gma file like below

and the JCV folder will contain the correct .jcv file as well as the corresponding .gma and .unl files like below

Although in this example the ,gma and .unl is wrong.

Phew - seems like a bit of a screw-up. I have lifetime maps on my 2597. Do these issues also affect upgrading to 2014.4 on my Nuvi? My instinct is to leave well alone until all issues are resolved?
