Re: Anyone else no longer getting traffic notifications?

Thank you for the comprehensive information.

Today the auto search found the Altech Netstar traffic service, regularly looked for updates, indicated it was up to date and showed some road work information.

How up to date and accurate is this traffic information?

Re: Anyone else no longer getting traffic notifications?

Bump

I see that Garmin sells a traffic subscription service for South Africa in partnership with Altech Netstar.

Yet the Altech Netstar (ZA) Lifetime Subscription auto searches for a service... and doesn't find one.

Any ideas?

BaseCamp and Google Earth

Recently I couldn't view selected items from BaseCamp in Google Earth anymore. I got told to install Google Earth  I came across a fix today  In the directory containing googleearth.exe execute the command "googleearth.exe /RegServer" Apparently it works for MapSource too.

Re: Some T4A questions

Thank you for the feedback. Depending on the purpose, it seems that switching between different mapsets works best. I agree with this statement: I have always used "Garmap to get me there and T4A when I get there" I have also done some more reading regarding POIs. Seems that some functiona...

Some T4A questions

What advantage do the T4A maps offer, compared to planning a trip using BaseCamp? 1. It seems that the T4A maps are topo maps. Does anyone know which map set the T4A maps are based on? 2. Also how do these differ from OSM topo maps or from CN maps, if at all? 3. It seems that the T4A maps come bundl...

Re: Newbie

I have downloaded the Africa OSM Topo map set but have yet to install it on the laptop. Unfortunately you loose the lane assist and Junction view when not using the CN map set. The Map is good quality and I will try it out some day soon. I did try this map set. It works very well with BaseCamp, but...

Re: Newbie

Some feedback on the OSM map road data that I have been using for a few days now. Generally it works very well, but in three instances so far I have found the road data not to be as up to date as Google Maps. Would be good to transfer those to my nuvi.

Re: Newbie

On another note, the OSM map seemed to work correctly too, so I now have current road map data.

Just the POI search was worse when selecting the OSM map, with less points found and some unnamed. Any idea on how to improve on this?

Re: Newbie

Thanks for the updated RHD information from the forum. The format was the same as I had last used some years back. Included some red light / speed cam points I found on the POIplaza site too. Used Garmin POI Loader to compile the GPI file. Seemed to work correctly today!
