What advantage do the T4A maps offer, compared to planning a trip using BaseCamp?
1. It seems that the T4A maps are topo maps. Does anyone know which map set the T4A maps are based on?
2. Also how do these differ from OSM topo maps or from CN maps, if at all?
3. It seems that the T4A maps come bundled with T4A POIs (Africa Guide). Is the Africa Guide the "value" of the T4A maps?
(from the T4A guide): "Tracks4Africa is a Garmin Authorized Partner for the development of Garmin TourGuides and Proximity Alerts."
4. Are these T4A POIs available in GPX format?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: Some T4A questions
Here are some reading you can do on the subject. post385.html?hilit=tracks#p385
My brother in law is a 4x4 enthusiast and he swear by Tracks for Africa They are locally based. I would defiantly consider it as an alternative map update if I still had one on the older pre CN units.
Garmin when they switched to they entered into an agreement with t4a and they include a poi file with local spots in all their map updates.

Re: Some T4A questions
Thank you for the feedback.
Depending on the purpose, it seems that switching between different mapsets works best. I agree with this statement:

I have also done some more reading regarding POIs. Seems that some functionality I am looking for is already included on the newer nüvis (mine is a 1310), and only to be discontinued on the later ones (new-gpsr-product-previews-reviews/garmi ... html#p4613). Go figure!Silver Fox wrote:I have always used "Garmap to get me there and T4A when I get there"
