#1305

Post by dasilvarsa »

nuvi 34xx (GCD File) software version 7.60

Changes made from version 7.50 to 7.60:
◦Fixed several Arabic text formatting and display errors.
◦Improved results returned from searches.
◦Fixed an error that caused routes not to highlight.
◦Fixed a communication issue on some non-US mobile networks.
◦Improved software stability.

I Installed it already, Nothing to Report +ve or -ve.

Last time I almost bricked the 3490 updating the firmware and had to courier it to Garmin Cape Town to revive it. I'm too scared now to upgrade the software.
Step outside, the graphics are amazing.

You can Always follow the safe route "If it Aint broke don't fix it".

But !

I think that when the next Map Update comes out in a few days time it probably won't let you update the Maps without updating the Firmware.
In fact it is safer to do the firmware first and the Maps later, Doing both at the same time is more dangerous.

One thing to remember with the new 34xx/35xx concerning firmware updates.
Battery must be Fully Charged. (Leave it on USB for a couple of Hours)

After webupdater tells you it's finished and you remove the USB and start the Nuvi ,The unit sits on the Copyright Screen for a long time (Looks like it's hanged but it hasn't). Do not do anything to the Unit (Go Make Coffee)

I've Updated Mine from 3.60 to 7.20 to 7.50 to 7.60 without any Problems.

Extras:
I like to backup the nuvi and do hard reset before and After Firmware upgrade, I don't think this is necessary but works for me.

Thanks Joe. I think I will give it a go.

".......to remove the the USB and START the Nuvi." I think here things went wrong when I did my update. I received the black screen with nothing happening. So I thought it's off so lets start it with the ON/OFF switch which I did. Result: Bricked!

OK, I'm going to be brave and give it a go. If I brick it again, I'm switching to TomTom
