3590LT eish!!
3590LT eish!!
Good Day Gents,
For the last 4-5 years i have been using a Nuvi 710 and bar it's slow touch screen it was a loyal GPS. Christmas this year the whip was generous and got me a 3590LT,what a GPS really was enjoying it but after 5 days the wheels fell off. The unit started rebooting randomly with out cause so I referred back to Garmin SA they took a look at the unit and replaced it with out question, I asked what the problem was and they stated the memory board was faulty. So off i went with the new GPS, true as nuts 5 days later the same thing occurred now im beginning to think that this was a bad investment.
So off i went back to Garmin SA and they replaced it with another new unit...........(3rd unit)........................ 5 days later same thing happens again however this time more aggressive,in one day it rebooted 13 times. So back to Garmin i went and they stated that the POI File with the Cyclops Camera point was corrupted.
So 3 units later im still experiencing the same problem I have been in touch with the national technical manager and he is investigating as to what could be causing this and I pose this problem to the forum does anybody have any ideas what could be causing this?
When this GPS functions correctly ................................... what a machine!!!

Re: 3590LT eish!!
Try This
In the nuvi memory there is a file called TRACKS4AFRICA.GPI in a folder called POI
Back it up to the computer and then delete it.
I had the same problem and it fixed it for me. I have 3490LMT that works like a dream.
Let us know if it helps.
You have to do it again after Map Updates.
If it does not help you could ask Garmin to swop the 3590 for a 3490.
Are you using any Garmap Maps on your unit ?

Re: 3590LT eish!!
Does it only happen in the Car ?
Try to Navigate on Battery to see if problem is cured.
Could be Electrical Noise in the Car, Cable running too close to Canbus or Other source of Noise.
Are you using any extra maps ? Like Garmap etc etc.
RTL Trap is a serious Firmware error during Runtime.
Have you done Hard-Reset after Firmware, Map Update ?
I think that you need to go back to Garmin.
You could also try to post at Noeman.org Garmin Forum.

Re: 3590LT eish!!
I've had my 3590 since the middle of 2012 and not once has it rebooted or given me any problem. If you are in the Centurion area you are welcome to send me a PM and you can come to check and compare if you want to.

Re: 3590LT eish!!
Well it has been a week of frustration, i'm slowly but surely losing faith in the Garmin brand. In the last 5 days the unit has rebooted 8 times and I've tried everything, thanks to everybody for the suggestions which I've tried before or tried recently, but with no success. It doesn't seem to be related to where the unit is situated in the car or the area i'm in or even if the cyclops poi file is loaded.
I've rebooted set back to factory default reloaded maps and POI traffic but with out success. When i was using my NUVI 710 I never had these issues what can i say, they don't make them like they use to!
Garmin SA needs to make good on there flagship model because it is failing in a big way!
