My first post on this forum, I was previously a member of the old one.
Have been GPSing (!) since I won a handheld Magellan in a NSRI contest many moons ago. Paraffin powered unit that would need between 10 and 20 minutes to acquire sats, ouch! Presently using a Nuvi 500 and have not yet felt the need to upgrade, but I do want another handheld for hiking. I mostly use GPS for road trips, some offroading and also hiking. Have dipped my toes into Geocaching waters, but thus far the bug has not bitten, or has not had enough time to bite, hehe.
Other gadget related hobbies are amateur (ham) radio, hi-fi and photography. I am also involved in youth work (Voortrekkers and amateur radio) and I love hiking / backpacking and camping.
