At R799.99 for an Ipad/Iphone app, it would seem to be worth it. The maps and the application are all bundled together, thereby making your Ipad/Iphone a fully-fledged GPSr without the need for a 3G connection to download the maps (if you are a serious off-roader or 4x4 enthusiast of course). There has been only one negative comment about the product thus far. Standard Android map applications that I have tried, all required either a 3G or WLAN connection to download the maps on the fly. You can imagine your cellphone bill if you don't have a data bundle included in your cellphone contract.

If you are a off-road enthusiast and you do own an Ipad/Iphone (but no GPSr), then this may be the route to go. I personally won't go rushing out to buy an Ipad just for the convenience of being able to have the off-road maps. Tracks for Africa maps are pretty good on their own, as I have managed to get my brother-in-law hooked on them. He uses them in a Nuvi 200 with the greatest of ease and has done a lot of off the beaten track travels. I have invited him to join the forum (with no success, yet).

Just to catch up...i used the GPS'r version for a short period for cross border and tracks and it worked like a bomb...but at R800 odd per year its pricy
