I used it to update my Garmin and such, I had no problems and it was very easy - much better than previous tools.

Question:
Did it also install maps on computer ? Visible in Mapsource/Basecamp ?

There has been a lot of updates since the launch in January and it's a lot better Now.

I'm trying to find out if Express can actually load maps to Computer.

Very old version could not but who knows with new version.

I did firmware update to 7.9 using Express and it worked fine.
Also tested some Vehicle and Voice downloads and worked fine also.
Current Version is 2.1.13

I updated a Nuvi 52 and had a good look for any option to download the map to the computer at the same time. It seem that the only option will be to use Mapupdater where you have the three options GPs only, GPS and Computer or Unit, or Computer only

That's wht I thought.
You cannot use it for Full Mapupdate for Now it's GarminMapUpdater as usual.

New Express 2.2.13.0 of June 12 released

New version has direct option for download Maps to PC for Use with Basecamp, Mapsource and Mapinstall
