JUCTION VIEW

Discussion of the maps available in South Africa in the various sub-folders: Garmap, Navteq, T4A, OSM, etc.
More sub-folders will be created as we go along and the need arises.

I have read that on the newer Nuvi's, one can copy the JCV file from any of the various Garmin maps into the .System/JCV directory and they will be picked up automatically by the map you are using, as they identify the positions via lat/long position.

Junction View Works with City Navigator Maps Only.
JCV file is married to the map and May change depending on the Nuvi Capabilities such as Resolution and Landscape/portrait Mode.
eg JCV file for nuvi3490/3590/3790 for City Navigator Southern Africa 2013.40 is D3529060A.JCV
It can go in the nuvi /.System/JCV folder or in the SD Card in /Garmin/JCV folder.
When City Navigator Southern Africa 2014.1 is released a new JCV file will also be released.
JCV file will not work with Garmap or T4A Maps. (This is one of the reasons why new Nuvi's are not sold with Garmap Pre-loaded)
Here is a link to a full explanation of Garmin Additional Files if you want to learn more about the workings of the Nuvi.

Your Explanation of it working with Lat/Lon is not altogether correct.
JCV's are triggered by the firmware only when routing. Some of the info comes from the Map and the Picture comes from the JCV File.

Re: LANE ASSIST -JUNCTION VIEW ON NUVI 3597

Hi, I am a newbie here, so if this is in the wrong place, please tell me... I have a Nuvi, 3597LMT and for some reason, the lane assist view, does NOT always show up, any ideas? Garmin itself is a bit puzzled as to why? It comes up on some but not on all, however on my 3590 it worked fine no issues? The screen should split automatically, with the road sign, etc, but it does not, however when i press the top left corner, i then get a pic of the junction and the correct lane, but i should not be having to do this, any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Welcome to the forum. This is the appropriate place to post your problem. A few things you could try to resolve your problem. Make sure you have the latest firmware loaded on the Nuvi, Try to reload the map set to ensure that some of the tiles were not corrupted during downloading and installation. Try a hard reset. Make sure you backup your data and favourits before you do that. Sometimes the RAM does not clear when it should and causes the unit to malfunction and a hard reset may just do the trick. Please keep us informed of the solution to the problem when you find it it may help someone else when the same problem arises.

I have come across this which may be off interest to you and anyone else encountering the same problem.
