List of Shell Vpower Diesel Service Stations
It is not well known but Shell market their Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel as Shell VPower Diesel. Even some of the pump attendants does not know this, so at a Shell Service Station ask for VPower diesel. Here is a Data base I created form the list of Service Stations that stock VPower Diesel obtained form their website. I Know data bases are available for other brands so please pitch in and share.

Re: List of Shell Vpower Diesel Service Stations
Perhaps just a short "history" lesson from my side after learning the other day about the owner of a fairly fancy (read expensive) vehicle that didn't know that there is a difference in diesel and he just filled up. (Probably the cheapest...)
In the old days the sulphur content of the the diesel available in SA was >3,000 p.p.m.
This was reduced at some stage to Low Sulphur which is 500 p.p.m.
It was then reduced even further to Ultra Low Sulphur which is 50 p.p.m.
Unfortunately people get confused and mention, or use LS in stead of ULS.
(At the moment we are already lagging behind Europe where <10 p.p.m is available.)
So what is the big deal?
The sulphur plays havoc with the injectors and fuel pump. Sulphur has a bit of a lubricating effect, but also has some nasty side effects, like increasing wear and tear.
Modern engines are designed to very close tolerances and excessive sulphur causes a lot of (expensive) damage to fuel pumps, injectors, etc.
Which is why you shouldn't put 500 p.p.m. diesel in a vehicle that was designed for 50 p.p.m.
SA has already reached the stage again where certain models are not being made available locally as our 50 p.p.m is outdated.

I just want to pass a comment on your short "history" lesson regarding low sulphur and ultra low sulphur diesel.....
Overseas (American and British) refineries seemed to go the route of 500 ppm straight to 15 ppm in most instances
and only in Africa at large did we get stuck on 50 ppm when sulphur content was reduced..... It is unfortunate that we
also make use of the term LSD for 500 ppm and ULSD for 50 ppm, whereas it should in fact be LLSD for 50 ppm and
ULSD whenever we attain the 15 ppm standard.... Hopefully this will be available around 2017.....!!!
I fully agree with the statement that we are losing out big time when it comes to new model cars specifically tuned and
mapped to use ULSD type fuel of at most 15 ppm.....
To see results of using the wrong type of fuel in new cars, go to the Carbon Doctor website......
You either have to remap the EGR valve or destroy and bypass the DPR filter in the exhaust system to compensate for
the higher sulphur load in the diesel used locally.....
