Hi
I am using the following setup:
• Garmin Zumo 660 GPS
• Garmin Basecamp Application - for creating my routes on my PC with the following maps installed: Garmin SSA Streetmap 2013.1 NT, Global Map and T4A Maps_Traveller's Africa 13.05.01.
• Garmin POILoader Application - for loading POI's to my device
I would like to know how to do the following:
• Create POI's in Garmin BaseCamp
• Export/Import rename/save move etc. these POI files to the correct place
• Load those POI's on my Zumo 660
I want to do this without influencing the loading of standard POI's that would be part of the specific map that I am working from. I.e. it seems like my T4A Map has some nice POI's on it already, and by creating my own ones in Basecamp I don't want to replace the original ones with mine, I want them added to the same listing.
Can anyone point me to a step-by-step idiot's guide on achieving this?
Thanks and much appreciated.

Re: Creating and Loading POI's - Zumo 660
Welcome to the forum. If you asked the question of how to do that in MapSource it would have been easy. I am sure that Joe Da
Silva would be able to answer your question in detail being our fundy in using Basecamp. The poi's in Garmap maps are build into the map set and cannot be altered or damaged by what you do so feel free to experiment. A few pointers to start you going. With Basecamp open click on file>new>list. Type the name you want to use for your Poi like "My way points" Click on file>new>waypoint. If the point you want to add as a Poi is within in the display window click on it and a dropdown window will appear with the detail of the point. You can edit the detail like name, symbol and add detail like address and include a proximity distance which will trigger a warning when you are within the proximity distance from the Poi. If you only have the co ordinates of the Poi and you want to add it to your list click on file>new>waypoint and then anywhere on the map set. You can then edit the detail and co ordinates and other detail as required. To send the file to your GPSr there is and icon in the toolbar "send '.......' to device" that would use PoiLoader to send it to your GPSr in gpx format which will not effect any waypoints (favourites) you may have stored in the GPSr They will be listed under extras. Each time you send this data to your GPSr in will overwright the data sored under that name in the device. Export will save the file in the folder of your choice on your computer and import will add the points sored in another file to your current file. Hope this will help you getting started until someone more into Basecamp can give better advice.

Re: Creating and Loading POI's - Zumo 660
Thanks Jan, sorted! In the end, what worked was using the first part of your procedure but not sending it directly to my GPS from Basecamp did not work. Instead I created and saved the waypoints in Basecamp, then exported them to .gpx files to a folder on my PC. Then used POILoader to upload them to my GPS. Works Perfect. I can set a proximity and when in that area I get a audio and visual indicator.

Glad you are sorted. I prefer MapSource and although I periodically look at Basecamp I have never actually used it to create and load Poi's to me Mapsource is still more user friendly. I presume it is a matter of personal taste.
