Anyone else no longer getting traffic notifications?

It has been more than a year since we last had any posts on this forum. I take it then that all is going well with the TMC system and that no one is experiencing any problems?

The reason I asked the question is that Altech Netstar Traffic (PTY) Ltd still regularly monitor this forum and I am sure they would appreciate feedback on any problems and also would like to know where things are going well.

OK oom Jan, hiermee my antwoord.
Sedert my vorige klagtes oor die opvangs/beskikbaarheid van Traffic waarskuwings, het dit geensens verander of verbeter nie.
Ek besoek Gauteng weekliks vir vooraad aankope en ek kry 'n konstante groen die hele roete deur Springs, Germiston, Kemptonpark, Olifantsfontein, Longmeadow, Buccleuch, Sandton, Randburg, Strijdompark, Roodepoort, Amalgam, Selby, Booysens, Randvaal en Meyerton.

Dit alles terwyl ek in erge verkeersknope telkens beland.

Vanaf S26 20.423 E27 55.707 na S26 12.741 E28 00.388 volgens die Gps behoort my tussen 15 en 20 minute te neem, hierdie stuk neem my gereeld tussen 45 min tot 80 minute!

Bogenoemde is slegs my ondervinding oor baie maande van frustrasie.

Wat ons benodig om te bevestig of dit wel 'n probleem is met die data wat gestuur is na die Garmin, benodig ons die datum wanneer die insident gebeur het, tyd van insident, en die model van die Garmin.

Voordat ons die informasie het, kan ons nie advies aanbeveel nie.

Herewith a few things to check to ensure that the system is active on your unit. These tips from the Gamin website.

It is possible that the traffic service has been disabled. To confirm whether the service is enabled:
1.Connect the device to power using a compatible GTM or TA cable
2.Touch Tools ◦Some devices skip this step

3.Touch Settings
4.Touch Traffic

If the traffic is disabled, you may enable it here.


If your traffic subscription has never been activated, you will also need to acquire GPS satellite signal to activate the subscription. After checking your coverage area using the links listed above, plug the traffic receiver/vehicle power cable into the vehicle and then into the GPS device or cradle. Allow the device to receive GPS signal along with the FM signal. This process may take up to 20 minutes.

If you have previously received traffic signal with your receiver, you may still receive traffic signal even without satellite signal. In this case, the device will use your last known position to determine coverage.

If you're still not receiving traffic after following all the steps and tips above, please contact Product Support.

On your nick it shows Altec Nedstar.
Which is the correct name ?

Except for the signal being a bit weak in some places and not covering the National Roads completely mine works fine most of the time.

The signal strength will vary depending on the distance from the nearest radio station transmitter. The signal is send via a Radio Data Signal (RDS) I presume using the SABC transmitters.

Dankie Denise, ek stoor ongelukkig nie my tracklogs om die datums en tye vir jou te kan gee nie, maar ek sal dit volgende week stoor as ek terugkom vanaf Gauteng.

Is daar nie 'n file op die unit wat die Traffic kommunikasie log nie? ( Bin of log)

Ek gebruik 'n 3790LT.
