Urgent help needed
Hi,
I wonder if some one can give advice, Last night while updating my garmin with the new map 5 minutes before completion we had an power outage for 20 mins, my nuvi screen went blank, i reinstalled the map to my computer and nuvi, the map is on the computer but I get a message on the nuvi cant unlock maps, when I want to reinstall it says my maps are update I reinstalled to the device but still get the message cant unlock maps. I did make a back up of my nuvi when I got it is there a file which is missing and can I replace it from my back up files, I am leaving on the 2nd May for the Kruger and I need my nuvi, can anyone assit me,

Robert try to reinstall the maps using Mapupdate. Garmin express is known to be problematic. The advice I got form Garmin during the week with updating maps on Nuvi 2300 was to give Mapupdate a try. It eventually worked for me

As jy regtig vas haak en kom nie reg nie, bel my (ek het my nommer gePM) en laat ons kyk hoe ons jou kan help (as jy kans sien om gou Potch toe te kom).

I also experience the same problem. I update tyhe maps with Express and then with Map updater. It still says on the GPS "Cannot Unlock Maps. When I accept the message, the new map is selected and all details is available. I also contact Outdoor warehouse and they inform me that there is an error on the garmin website.
Do you have the same issue with 2015.10.

Hi Jurie,
Did you make a backup of the GPSr before you did the update? If you have, then all you need to do is copy back the .GMA file to the relevant location where it needs to be. Robert phoned me this morning with this feedback and his GPSr is now up and running. Failing which, if your unit is registered on the Garmap website, login there and download the .GMA file from there. Copy it across to the GPSr and that should get you going.

Garmin does have major problems with updating maps via Garmin express. The Garmin engineers in the USA are working on it. Solving one problem creates a problem elsewhere I am told. I was promised feedback regarding progress in solving the problems but with Garmin SA moving to new premises and the public holiday today I would only expect to hear from them tomorrow. I experienced problems when making use on the 25% Easter discount on Lifetime map update on a Nuvi 2300. After the purchase went through Garmin Express did not see the update so It could not be downloaded. I managed to do the download shortly after the 2015.1 release became available. I was fiddling around My Garmin around the time the release became available so I am not sure they fixed the problem. I was assured however that the issue enjoys the highest priority internationally. I will keep you posted of any feedback.

Hi Jan, Yes I had the same problem and eventually got it right with Map Updater. The new map is on the garmin but if Garmin Express comes up it still says that it must be updated.
