Nuvi 860T (Recently Found folder on unit)

Post by MAV1 »

Hi chaps, maybe you can assist here.
I have a problem with my 860T - which i have since given to my son - everytime you select the recently found folder on the unit, it reboots continuously... for some reason it appears that there may a corrupt file or something... Any idea as to what i can do to rectify this? :???: I have reloaded the latest firmware and the latest 2012.2 mapset, still no joy...
Best Regards

Mav not sure whether it will help but when my 200 started feeling sick a hard reset worked. Not sure how it is done on the 8xx series though, but on the 200 there is a little pin hole underneath the serial number (bar code) sticker. Be careful not to use something sharp or metal. I would suggest you download the 8xx user manual form the Garmin website (Garmin.com) to determine the procedure for a hard reset.

Hi Jan, thanks for the reply, Not sure if this is the same, but usually if i hold the power button in the off position for 10 seconds, the unit resets itself... will check though as you mention to see if there is something else one needs to do in order to reset..

I am not sure either but think the hard reset is more like switching the power off on a computer when rebooting fail to solve your problem, On a Blackberry they call it a battery out reboot. I tried getting a 8xx user Manuel from the Garmain website but that proved to be difficult. The 200 manual mention both reset methods but give no explanation as to what the difference is.

Hi Jan, found an option on the device that is called "Nonvol statistics"... selected the option to "Clear Nonvol"... this sorted out the problem... I'm guessing the folder or something may have been corrupted...
Cheers

I forgot to mention, the device seems quite a bit faster too. Did the same on my wife's 1410...
