Routing from Maseru to Sani Pass

#2971

Post by STosen »

I have both Garmap SA Topo 2012.2NT and T4A 14.05.01.

I recently tried to create a route from Maseru to Sani Pass, through Lesotho, without adding via waypoints.

Neither the Topo or T4A maps would direct the route through Lesotho?

Any reason for this?

Hi, will have a look.
What is your preferences within Basecamp or Mapsource regarding calculation of Routing set to?

Remember the Sani Pass is unpaved. Also try using a starting point on the A1 rather than Masero. If you start close to the border post it will route you through the RSA. Play around with your avoidance.

Routing preferences are as follows:
Route Style: use Auto-Routing
Vehicle: Car/Motorcycle
Try to Avoid: No avoidances are flagged
Calculation Style: Faster Time (Changing to Shorter Distance still routes via ZA)
Road Selection: Halfway between and Highways (Changing to minor roads still routes via ZA, using T4A)
Driving Speeds:
Interstate Highways: 108
Major Highways: 93
Other Highways: 72
Collector Roads: 56
Residential Roads: 40

Routes starts in Maseru (S29.31513 E27.48710 Datum: WGS 84, Grid: lat/Lon hddd.ddddd(degrees)

If I change the starting point to S29.30243 E27.51645, the route runs parallel to the ZA border, and then exits Lesotho at the Ficksburg border post and then routes via ZA to Howick.

If I change the starting point to Mazenod (S29.41512 E27.55914), this it routes correctly through Lesotho via Sani Pass.
