Discontinuation Of Nuvi 3597

Hi Guys, while browsing, I came about this topic on gpscity.com, where this Nuvi is discussed ( Garmin Marketing Memo dated July 8, 2014 advising the nϋvi 3597LMTHD, Part : 010-01118-00 has been discontinued), and to my dismay I've found out this unit is discontinued because of non spares availability???????????????????? in Aug. 2014 . These units are still available from Garmin, and elsewhere, but not a word is said about the discontinuation of said ~ "make money while we can". Unfortunately, I own a Nuvi 3597, and, nothing wrong with the unit, very superior piece of equipment, but I will no longer invest money into Garmin. We don't know, if you buy a Garmin product today, how long it will be on the market before it's discontinued. Very sad.

Yes Jurie, owners of these units will have to wait and see what happens. With Garmin, anything is possible.

I think that the clue lies in the part number. The current 3597 sold by Garmin has a different part number so I assume that they have made some changes to eliminated the problems with spares and are still marketing the model on a new part number. It look like that specific model (part number 010-01118-00) has been discontinued but that the 3597 still lives on.

Like my son says, if it wasn't for bad luck, we would have had no luck at all. My first GPS was a Nuvi 710. I had it only for a couple of months before it was discontinued. After some years it fell on the tile floor and broke and the insurance replaced it. I got a 3790LT, just to find out later that it was also discontinued. In December last year I spoiled myself and got the 3597LMT and gave the 3790, then already upgraded to a LMT, to my son. His 3790LMT came lose from the screen and cracked. Navworld gave him R2000 trade in on a 3597LMT and now I see it is also discontinued.
