Like my car's indicator. It works and then doesn't.

I was a parent with my first child. I'm now a referee now that I have two children.

Re: Garmin Express Updates
I have just updated Garmin Express to v4.0.11.0 .
I notice that on this version they have reintroduced the feature to "Install Map to Computer".
On the Check for Updates screen, click on Map Options and it is there.
I am sure that makes a lot of us BaseCamp users happier.

Re: Garmin Express Updates
Hi Guys, Phillip. Still having problems with Garmin Express?, like I do ? I've submitted an email to Garmin Support on this topic, an here is their reply ~ If you receive an error message while using the Garmin Express application, please try the following solutions in the order they are presented below.
Your computer must have the below requirements in order for Express to work:
•Windows XP or newer, Microsoft .NET 4 Client Profile (included)
•1024 x 768 display, USB port and 1 GB RAM
•High speed Internet access (Not for use with dial-up, mobile or satellite connections)
•USB cable and a nüvi, zumo or dezl series device
•May require up to 10 GB free disk space
Make sure the software of the Garmin device is up to date.
For a step by step guide to assist you with this, please click the link below:

With the Express program itself, it is very important to use the latest version of the application. First, we suggest to completely uninstall express. You can uninstall this by following the steps below:
1.Click Start.
2.Click Control Panel (Windows 8 users will need to access the Control Panel from the Apps menu).
3.Click Add & Remove Programs or Programs in Features for Windows Vista/7 users.
4.Click on Garmin express
5.Click on Remove or uninstall.
6.On C: drive, we also need to go to Program Files, Garmin folder, and page through all the sub folders here, and delete anything to do with "old" versions of Garmin Express
You can then reinstall express to ensure you are using the latest version by following the steps below:
1.Click http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/ ... taller.exe
2.Click Run
3.Accept the terms and conditions and click Install
4.Click Launch
I would recommend removing the device, completely closing the application and then reopening it and re-associating the device. This procedure can fix a variety of issues. I have included information below on how to complete that process:
1.Open Garmin Express.
2.Click Tools
3.Click Remove Device
4.Disconnect the device from the computer.
5.Close the Express window.
Now that the device has been removed, we will need to close the application.
1.Right click the Garmin Express icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner, next to the clock on your computer).
2.Click Exit.
3.On your keyboard, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
4.Click Start Task Manager (Windows XP users can skip this step)
5.Click Processes.
6.Right click ‘Garmin.Cartography.MapUpdate.CoreService.exe’.
7.Click End Process.
8.Close the Task Manager.
9.Click the Windows Start icon.
10.Click Programs/All Programs.
11.Click Garmin.
12.Click Garmin Express.
The application will now launch, reconnect your Garmin device to the computer and follow the on screen prompts to associate the device to Express.
You should now be able use Garmin Express without any issues occurring.
I've done the above, and so far it looks like it's working ?????????
Hope this helps for other forumites having trouble with Garmin Express

Re: Garmin Express Updates
Thanks for that info Phillip. Uninstalling using widows "uninstall programs " always leave remnants in the registry of your computer. I have been using the REVO uninstaller for a long time. After the uninstall process it scans the computer for left overs and give you the option to delete it leaving the registry clean of traces of the program Revo Uninstaller is a freeware program and is available at http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uni ... nload.html

Re: Garmin Express Updates
Hi Jan, thanks for your reply. The problem I had with Express is, when I click on Garmin Express to open, the error notification appears on screen, as I posted previously on the forum, and if I then click ok, Express disappears from my Windows and programs totally. When I try to re install Express again a notification comes up " Express is already installed on your computer ", not even my IOBIT program uninstaller shows Express, then I have to manually search all Garmin folders on my pc for leftovers of Express, and delete them one by one, and after that I've got to do a scan of the registry and fix that. Re installing the latest version of Express again, the program works for a day or two, and then it's the same story. I don't know why this happens with Express, but Garmin must rectify this glitch. I wonder if this problem only happens to me
, because I don't see any write up's on the forum from other users.

Re: Garmin Express Updates
If you keep experiencing that try deleting it with Revo. It really remove all traces of the program from your computer and registry.

Re: Garmin Express Updates
Hi Jan, I've downloaded / installed revo uninstaller, yes, but for now, all programs ie. windows, revo, iobit, shows the express program, while express is working. Will have to see if I get another express error, and see if revo will show it, thanks.
