Archieved GPX files and Current Log files

#3914

Post by Willem N »

Hi
Would like to share experience on GPX files on the Garmin units

The units archive the tracks in a GPX file.

What is the criteria before archiving? Time based? distance based? Data Based?

Can a user force the archive process? Meaning clear the current log and save as a archived file?

Trust the question makes sense and looking forward to your experience

Been trying to figure that one out for sometime. It seem to be totally random. Some time it is archived during a stop along a trip and some time it combines 2 or 3 trips before it archives. I have when we could still submit track logging of new or changed road directly to the map the map producers in the Garmap era used the Diagnostic logging to produce a 1sec interval not lock to the map data. The logging can be started and stopped at will and came in handy to produce a meaning full picture of what needed to be submitted for them to make the changes needed. When you press and hold the centre of the Speedo for a few seconds the diagnostic page appears and there is a option for diagnostic logging.
