It installed on my Nuvi but not on my laptop. Tried both Garmin Express and Mapupdater. Same results.

This morning it took about 2 min to load to the laptop.

Why is it still called 2016 and not 2017.1?
Or is the April release gonna be 2017.1?

Dear Phillip,

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

I am sorry to hear you are having problems using Garmin Express. I am happy to assist you resolve this issue.

If you receive an error message while using the Garmin Express application, please try the following solutions in the order they are presented below.

Your computer must have the below requirements in order for Express to work:

Windows Vista SP2 or newer, Microsoft .NET 4.5(included)
1024 x 768 display, USB port and 1 GB RAM
High speed Internet access (Not for use with dial-up, mobile or satellite connections)
May require up to 13 GB free disk space

Make sure the software of the Garmin device is up to date.

With the Garmin Express program itself, it is very important to use the latest version of the application. First, we suggest to completely uninstall express. You can uninstall this by following the steps below:

Click Start
Click Control Panel (Windows 8 users will need to access the Control Panel from the Apps menu)
Click Add & Remove Programs or Programs in Features for Windows Vista/7 users
Click on Garmin Express
Click on Remove or uninstall

Once the program has been removed from your computer please clear the Garmin folder on your computer. To do this please follow the instructions below:

Because the Garmin folder may be a hidden folder you first need to make sure that you’re able to see any hidden folders. I have included instructions below on how to reveal these folders.

Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8

Open the Start menu
Click Control Panel
Click Folder Options
Click the View tab
Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders
Click OK

Windows 10

Search for Control Panel
Click File Explorer Options
Click the View tab
Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders
Click OK

Now you will be able to see the hidden folders please follow the instructions below on how to clear the Garmin folder.

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

Go to Computer or This PC
Open your Local Disk (C:) drive
Go to ProgramData
Open the Garmin folder
Delete everything inside the folder
Restart your computer

You can then reinstall Garmin Express to ensure you are using the latest version by following the steps below:

Click http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/ ... taller.exe
Click Run
Accept the Terms and Conditions and click Install
Click Launch

The application will now launch, reconnect your Garmin device to the computer and follow the on screen prompts to associate the device to Garmin Express.

I followed the procedure above for windows 10 started Express, and it started downloading the map set. 327Mb later, Express gave a error, and the problem still exists.

Hi Phillip When I first installed the maps a message " an error occurred during the installation please try again later" When I unplugged the gps I found that the maps were installed on the GPS but not on the Laptop. I did a reinstall with the same result. Then tried the old faithful Mapupdater with the same result. The download and installation took about 20 minutes compared to the normal 9 minutes on my connection. The next morning I tried again without the GPS even connected to the laptop and the map was installed on my laptop in about 1 minute. Whatever the problem they fixed it over night. The very short time it look indicated the data was somewhere on the laptop with a error in their code to finalise the installation.

Hi Jan, thank you for your reply. I did as you've said in your post, and it also worked. Sometimes I wonder if the people at Garmin really knows whats going on at their technical site. Ah well, just glad that the problem got sorted.

Garmin Europe don't. I send them an email once regarding a map update problem and got a reply. I did everything they said in the email and it did not work. Send a return email which included their original message and got exactly the same reply word for word from a different agent. It seem someone typed a few standard answers to queries and the agent just copy what he think is appropriate to what he perceive the problem may be. I get the idea that whoever answers has no technical knowledge.

Aye, it is frustrating working with these Garmin applications, with Garmin Mapupdater, I keep getting "An enexpected error has occurred...." :mad:
It download the maps fine, but when it goes into installing, just bombs out.
