Hi Niell Welcome here. Tell us a bit more of the nuvicam. Your experience with it, what you like about it. Does it meet your expectations you had when you bought it etc. Would recommend buying it?

To date I am happy with the Nuvicam. It is a great new toy for a pensioner. The quality of the the dashcam videos is really good, and having installed a 64GB Micro SSD card, I recently travelled from Cape Town to Johannesburg and was able to record the entire journey. The 7" screen improves the readability of the screen. All in all, although it is expensive, I would recommend it

Hi Neill,

I have read quite a lot about the Garmin Nuvicam and my son got one last Friday as replacement for his faulty Nuvi 3597 LMT and not meaning it as a correction but al indications are that it has a 6 inch screen and not a 7 inch.

Hi Swannie,

You are correct in that it is a 6" screen. I had been looking at Tablets on the day that I posted and my mind wasn't 100% on what I was writing. However the 6" screen is still an improvement for a pensioner who's eyesight is not what it should be anymore. I am still playing around with it and learning more about it by the day.

Hi Neill,
I am also a pensioner, but I bought my son his Nuvi 3597 LMT just before he moved down to Durban. That is when the problems started on his GPSr and I directed him to the new Navworld in Durban. That is when they replaced it with the Nuvicam. I am still so jealous, he offered me to swap my 3597 for his nuvivam, but he is always on the road and needs the cam much more than I do and of course I would not do that.
I would love to test it for a few months though.
Are yours a screen mount or do you have one of those dash mount friction pads?

Hi Swannie,
Mine is a screen mount. I find the magnetic mount more convenient than the old clip in method. My only real problem to date is that the battery only has about 30 minutes of charge life once it is removed from the mount, which is inconvenient when trying to sort or work with data on the unit. It does not give you much time before it is discharged.

Hi Neill,
I've build a 12V cigarette lighter onto my works bench in my room, so taking it out of the car and plugging it in on the desk gives me constant power.
