Hi Guys, Phillip. With the latest map download, CN Southern Africa 2017.2, I noticed that the Southern Africa DEM, is missing, from my Nuvi 3760. Garmin does not stop in making their customers unhappy.

The DEM will probably be pushed out by an update in Garmin Express
If you have a backup you can restore it manually to your Nuvi.
I had the same issue copied gmapdem.img to system folder now dem is available.
Apart from dem minor issues the upgrade finished well but it used about 710 Megs Data.

Hi Dasilvarsa. Thank you for your reply. I had the previous map set backed up on my pc, but when I downloaded the new map set I deleted the previous map set, not knowing that the dem folder was'nt included with the latest map set. Is this dem folder coupled to a specific user, or is there a way you could possibly help me with this folder.

Good morning Phillip When you deleted the maps on your pc it should have been moved to the "Recycle Bin" Unless your deleted it there as well it should still sit there and you can restore it on your PC by clicking on the restore option.

Hi Jan, yes I've deleted it from the recycle bin as well, and with the windows 10th anniversary update all "old data" on the machine were also deleted via the C: disk clean up.
Well I suppose this is how I pay school fees, again. Hopefully there will be a map update that includes DEM.

And of course you did not download and use JaVaWa GMTK to make a complete backup of your maps and unlock code as suggested over here useful-information-and-links/javawa-gmtk-t717.html. Naughty. Jokes aside It is good advice to keep a JaVaWa backup of your maps and GMA codes stored on a flash drive or SD card separate from your computer for easy restoration in case of a computer crash or switching to a new computer.

Which one do you recommend Joe the Free, Professional or Professional plus? Look like a handy program to have. But once again this is the sort of program you keep a backup of on a separate flash drive or something. During a Windows restore it will be one of the programs that is lost.

Hi guys, Phillip. Yes I did'nt make any map back up's, why would anyone do that, when a new map is available for download, assuming that all will go well, UNTIL you switch the Nuvi on. I've learn 't a good lesson. In future, I will definitely remember this with respect to map updates. I've tried Recuva, but no luck. Thank's guys for the help.
