Good afternoon all,
I'm brand new to this forum.
Can somebody possibly direct me in the right direction as to where I would possibly be able to retrieve the latest POI file(s) for Road Hazards?
I need to go on the road tomorrow afternoon and would like to update the POI files on my Garmin Nuvi 215W if at all possible seeing as though my current file is probably around 7-10 years behind.
I have luckily managed to update my maps last night, which was also probably 10 years old.
Any feedback would be much appreciated
Many thanks
Marius

Re: Garmin Nuvi POI Road Hazards
Welcome to the forum Marius
The Road Hazard Data files are available at the bottom of the Index page.
There are four options. RHD in GPI format for sound capable devices(RHD TTS)
RHD in GPI Format for sound capable devices (RHD TTS V2) a variation of the first one with some setup variations
RHD in GPI Format without sound
and RHD Downloads
The first three are pre-setup for direct download to a GPS. You will need Garmin Communicator installed on your PC and Garmin communicator only support Internet Explorer unfortunately. If you use Edge as a browser you should use the option to open the file in IE. All three options will work with the Nuvi 215.
You only need to plug the GPS using a usb cable to the PC open the file switch to IE and upload the file version of your choice.
The option RHD Download have all the latest data files available for direct download to your PC. You will need to unzip the files and do the setup of the data to your preference. Use PoiLoader to upload the data to the GPS
Note that the RHD options are only available when you are logged onto our website.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any problems accessing the data.

Re: Garmin Nuvi POI Road Hazards
Thank you for the reply Jan & for making me feel welcome.
I'm relatively PC savvy, but an amateur for loading new data/POI files onto the Garmin.
Which option would you suggest I follow?
Pretty sure my Nuvi 215W is sound capable [it does the normal warnings, etc and Bong! for (the very) old hazards]

Re: Garmin Nuvi POI Road Hazards
My personal choice is RHD TTS V2
V2 is setup to give voice warnings at all the POI accept for the mobile cameras. The reason for preferring the normal GPS "ping" warnings instead of the verbal voice warnings is the ping is easier to pick up when the radio is on.
The speed warnings are set to trigger only when you accede the speed limit. Driving anything below the speed limit will not trigger the warning but if you accede the speed limit by more that 8kmh it will trigger a continues warning on the GPS until you reduce your speed to within the 9kmh grace. This reduces the number of warnings to those that are relevant only
RHD TTS will give you voice warnings when entering the proximity radius of all POI.
Where possible most of the POI has been placed to be direction of travel orientated that is it will only trigger if the camera is targeting the road you are on . There are a few acceptations but Frans tried to reduce it to the minimum.
I suggest you give them all a try and find which one works best for you.
