Installing Additional Maps To A SD Card.

Hi guys, Phillip. A while back, a friend of mine came to visit me and wanted help installing "old map sets" with the "unlock codes" from Garmap, onto one sd card. He brought the Dvd's with. Bearing in mind, that, for the map sets to be loaded on the sd card, all the map sets had to be extracted to my PC, and the unlock codes, added for each map, individually. To make a long story short, tried as I wanted, I couldn't get all the map sets to load on the sd card, using Basecamp. Only one map set was loaded onto the sd card, so we ended up buying additional sd cards to load the map sets, and naming them accordingly. A bit of a hassle to change the sd cards in the Nuvi with the various map sets, when needed. I tried obtaining help with this topic, but failed. In my attachment, I explain, how to install, map sets, with all the correct names for the various maps, onto one sd card, (4 map sets into one sd card of 7Gb), and it worked. Never too old to learn and play around. Also remember, not to activate all your map sets on your Nuvi at any one time, because some Nuvi's might "misbehave" differently.
This tutorial might help, if you need to load "old" maps, and even global unlocked maps, onto your sd card, and therefore you will be saving a lot of internal memory. The Garmap SA Streetmaps 2013.3, now outdated, could help a lot when activated on your PND, in finding places in the "platteland", where CN Southern Africa doesn't make provision for. I suppose, people could also, make use of Google Maps, on their Smartphones, when looking for places and Poi's, in the "platteland.

Hi Phillip I had the same problem and I asked Frans and he sent this doc. from Darryl I tried and it works I have got 4 map sets on my SD card, the problem I had as soon as I load a map on it replaces the map, and using Darryl. Hope it works for you. advice I got them all on one SD card
