To add to what Frans said You can downlod Garmin Express from
https://www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express
After installing Garmin Express Connect your PND (GPS) to the PC using a USB cable. Garmin Express should launch automatically if not launch the program and add the PND. Garmin will then scan and advice you what updates are available. It will guide you through the installation of the maps and software updates which are pretty seamless.
