Updating the Garmin Express Application for an Automotive device

Garmin Express updates are released several times a year. Critical updates to the application are performed automatically when it is launched. If necessary, it is also possible to check for application updates manually.
To manually check for a Garmin Express update:

Windows:

1. Open Garmin Express
2. Click Settings
3. Click About
4. Click Check for updates to Express
5. Click Install Now if prompted

Mac:

1. Open Garmin Express
2. Click Garmin Express in the Apple menu bar
3. Click About Garmin Express
4. Click Check for Application Updates
5. Click Install Now if prompted

Once the installation is complete, Garmin Express will be up-to-date.

Sometimes the above process fail to update the App

I totally by accident I discovered why I was having problems to update Garmin Express from within the program. It would go so far and message me that it did not install.
The secret I found for that is to do the following !

Go to C:\Users/your name?\AppData\Local\Temp\
In the TEMP folder delete everything, all files, PERIOD !!!
This will now let you download GE without a problem. I had been fighting this problem for 2-3 years and no one had the solution for it.

In the past, I also had a great deal of problems with GE, and I will bear this in mind the next time I have a problem with GE. Something else to remember is, that your internet security program can sometimes also influence program installations.
