No Tracks to Download
No Tracks to Download
When using the Download function, Waypoints are downloaded, but there are no tracks.
Where travelling, the route you have just driven (blue line) is visible, but when I download, there is nothing.
My understanding is that the tracks reside on the device, and are only moved to the archive (1.gpx - 20.gpx) when the device memory is full.
Any idea as to what is wrong with my GPS?

Re: No Tracks to Download
I think what Shaun is referring to is the option on MapSource to receive tracks from a GPS.
I am not sure of the 500 will have to have a look at my grandson's but that would not be soon.
On the Nuvi 52 When you connect to a computer you can open the GPX folder and then the Archive Subfolder to find all the Track logs Archived in GPX format. You can copy them over to the PC and open each with either MapSource or BaseCamp.
I am sure that you would be able to find the archived files somewhere on the 500

A software update perhaps?
I did use the options the Nuvi 52 and it did upload a lot of tracks but only those files not Archived yet.

Re: No Tracks to Download
BaseCamp does not have a Selection/Tick Box to choose what you wish to download, as is the case with MapSource.
Firmware was updated/checked yesterday.

Re: No Tracks to Download
Correct. I don't know BC at all. I stick to MS.
But I see it can be possible that "Tracks are not selected (filtered)
Does it show next to the tracks icon any quantities like in the pic with the yellow highlighter?
If "Yes" -
make sure :Show all user data" is selected, or "Show Tracks"
and not only "Show Waypoint" , or "Show Routes"

Re: No Tracks to Download
Hi Shaun, Phillip.
In Basecamp, once opened, and the Gps unit is connected, to your pc, BC will automatically "import" data from your unit, ie. all "unlocked maps". You could also choose the map set that is installed on your Pc,choice is yours. Tracks and waypoints will be "imported" to a New List, if, created by yourself...little bit more work than compared to Map Source
To create a New List, in BC, in the upper taskbar, of BC, click on File, New. From there, click on New List, and a New List will open in the display panel, and you could also open a new folder from the above prompt, if required, to store all of your data in one file
Go back and click on the File Option and, then click on the "Import On The New List", (Data stored on your unit) and select what you want to "import" into your newly created list. By double clicking on any of your tracks in the New List, you'll find an array of options that you can do, such as to change the default colour of the route etc. I've done this on my Nuvi 3795, this morning and it works. There is only two tracks recorded on my unit.
Hopes that this might help.
Regards

Re: No Tracks to Download
I am running BaseCamp v4.70. This is the last version that supports overlays on Google Earth as per post I picked up somewhere on the Internet.
Tracks on the Nuvi 500 GPS are not automatically imported into BaseCamp. You need to select the Receive button.
I did a trial this morning, and switched it to Walking mode in an attempt to get a high number of waypoints for an Archive (1.gpx) to be created 2.gpx etc.
I retrieved the track this morning an am convinced it is a victim of some new legislation... must have been smoking something, or Michael J Fox's reincarnation has taken it back in time.
This date/time stamp of the track is 26 May 1999 07:40! The time is correct, but the date... not at all.
The time on the GPS is correct. I am not sure the date can be set.
The track is correct in terms of the destination and return.
mmm... Instead of going "Bacl to the Future", I am going "Back to the Past"!
