CN Southern Africa 2019.3 Map Update

Hi all, for those who qualify, there is a map update available, via Garmin Express, ie CN SA 2019.3. Please make sure that you do a full backup of your unit/units, before updating, just in case something might go wrong.
File size of this map update for my Nuvi 3597, is 737.18 MB. The file size is not the same for all units.
With this map update, T4A(Tracks 4 Africa) now forms part of the index screen, and makes it much easier to search categories in towns. With this said, a lot of work has gone into updating T4A, and gives a brief description and pictures (picture quality not of the best) of most sub categories, ie attractions etc. Thanks to the Garmin team for doing a great job.

Thanks for the info. I updated yeseterday. Problem i have is (Drive Assist 51-LMT) is now all the POI icons (beds, restaurants etc.) are now just big white signs with a 4 on them. I have unchecked the menu item of show up-ahead places, but they still clutter the screen.

I still have to go into "up view" and then back to map to remove them. Any way of disabling them from the start?

You may be able yo fiddle around with the map layers to eliminate the problem.

I assume the 4 stands for T4A (tracks 4 Africa)
Make a backup of your POI directory of your device.
If you installed the forum RHD, the there should be four files in this directory.
One is RHD (i.e. Desember 2018.gpi), and the other 3 is T4A files.
Delete the tracks4africa_2019_30_southerafrica.gpi file
to see if they are the poi showing on your device as 4.
If so, copy that .gpi back to the device if you want those Poi's, or simply leave it out.

I also own a Garmin 51 LMT-S Drive assist and on the recent up date the tracks4africa icons appeared I tried your advice by deleting the tracks4africa files on my unit POI and they disappeared and my unit is working just as good as before the update thanks a lot Frans

Hi Robsan....glad your problem is resolved,....for now. However, with the next map update, you'll have to follow the same procedure as mentioned above.
Every time there's a new map update, Garmin re installs T4A poi's.

Well sometimes you cant get your bread buttered both sides, Lucky it is not a big hassle to do so I will just have to do it. Is there away to ask Garmin to make the tracks4africa icons smaller just asking

Hi Robsan....you could pop Garmin Europe, an email from your Garmin account, explaining your issue....don't expect too much from them...the norm is to reply to you with an answer not related to the question.
Did you go into the units settings sub index? On my Nuvi 3759, on the sub index, Map & Vehicle, Map Layers, Places along the road, I' ve removed the tick there and T4A icons don't appear on the map anymore.

Hi Philip,
i got Garmins CEO e-mail address I might send an e-mail to him I usually get a response from them and them and and e-mail from there manager in South Africa and he usually follows up.
Phillip I open my garmin on my computer and then go to POi open it and then delete the tracks4africa file .
On my Nuvi 2497 there are tracks4africa files from 2016.2 to 2019.3 so there is a lot you will also find cyclops file.
I don't open any sub folders.
