Re: City Navigator Southern Africa 2022.10
Not the best quality release I have seen from CN. There are sections where the yellow colouring indication a mayor paved road along the R30 has gone missing. Also a large portion on the M4 through Welkom now also has no colouring.
Something that bugged me for some time is the roads where the abandoned golf estate at Flamingo Pan would have been. This project went bottoms up in the middle 1990's and will in all likelihood never happen. Look like CN get some of its data from Google maps because it also show up on google maps. Sending in map errors to Here receive the standard "thankyou for the information. We will make the necessary changes when we have a unit available to verify the data" CN will do a lot better by entering in an agreement with Tomtom to use their data in this country. At leas we witll get back the quality maps we had when Garmap were still around.

Mnr Coetser,
why not just use the coverage image available ,would save you lifting mine and editing out the Robot Icon
https://static.garmincdn.com/en/product ... 3cd72b.jpg
Thank you for such a warm & personal welcome to your forum. I'm unable to respond to your bizarre PM as you would know.

I made the image you used unique, you can easily see that the country names are in a different format , so not ZA but RSA as an example. I even gave you a link to the original.
Your reference to my location suggest your forum is only for those of us that are resident in South Africa, a strange concept considering the title "A South African forum for Global Positioning System"
As for who I am, I have a wealth of knowledge which I initially thought I would share with your forum & my fellow countrymen.

Welcome to our forum Garman_nuvi
Please note that there are multiple other websites where that specific "unique" image is available.
Here are a few

A screen shot of one of them also show RSA compare to ZA on the image you have given in your post. I am not sure if the link is to indicate your original image or the original image on the garrmin website

Re: City Navigator Southern Africa 2022.10
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 2495LMT in 2016. I was able to update the maps until Q2 of 2018. Suddenly, when I want to update the maps via Garmin Express, the update section tells me that I need to pay for one of two options. Either a single update for R599 or a Pay once update for R849.Jan Horn wrote:Not the best quality release I have seen from CN. I am quite pee'ved to state it at least, as the NUVI 2495LMT comes with free lifetime maps. So it seems my lifetime maps ended in 2018.
On another note, I battled like crazy to register on this forum. It tells me that my IP address is labeled as "spam". I had to register on the cellphone to be able to join the forum. Maybe admin can resolve this?
Sorry for not introducing myself as my mindset/mood is not right.
Thanks in Advance, sorry for the rant.

Re: City Navigator Southern Africa 2022.10
Good day and welcome to the forum. Apologies for the problem registering. I will ask Darryl to have a look at that.
Regarding the problem updating there is a clause in the T&C for City Navigator maps that should be noted "A product will be deemed to be out of service and its useful life to be ended if no updates have been downloaded for such product for a period of 24 months or more"
See my post at

You may approach Garmin South Africa and see if thatey can help you reinstate your liftime maps.
