How to save a route on the Nuvi 500

I have a Garmin Nuvi 500 GPS.
How do I do the following: I drive from from point A to B. I also added a few waypionts along this route. Now as I drive this route on a frequent base, it gets boring to put in the same route and waypoints every time before I start. I have tried to save the route when I stop at destination, but then I completely delete it
Can I save a route at all and if so, how do I do it?

Hi: Did you plan your route on your pc and sent it to your Nuvi or on your Nuvi alone?
Both ways will it be saved under "Custom Routes"
"Where To"-"Custom routes"

Sorry for asking: are you talking about a "Track" or a "Route"

Sorry I maybe speaking not so clear. I think it is "track".
What I want to do is when i stop at my destination, I want to save this track and recall it when I move off again. Then I do not have to load the whole route manually again. Is this possible on my Nuvi 500?

That's why i ask you if you make use of your PC. Most users don't.
In BaseCamp you can convert a "Track" to a "Route" by doing the
following:
# Connect your gps with your pc
# In BaseCamp, right click "Active Log" (Track)
# "Create Route From Selected Track"
# Okay
Your existing "Track" will be converted to a "Route" and will be
saved automatically on your Nuvi 500.
If you are making use of only your Nuvi, i think it is impossible
to save your "Track" as a "Route"
Help me if i am wrong all your clever guys. I am a lousy teacher.

Still think the Nuvi 500 is the best of all the gps models.

Dankie vir die raad. Nou die vraag, wat is "Basecamp"? Ek gebruik Mapsource en as ek 'n roete daarop "bou" en oordra na my GPS toe, dan is baie van die punte weg.
Dis hoekom ek gehoop het as ek eers eenkeer die pad gery het, dat ek dit sal kan stoor.
Ek glo ook die Nuvi 500 is 'n baie goeie GPS. "All rounder" soos hulle sê.

More Martin: Mapsource en Basecamp min of meer dieselfde. Basecamp lees egter dadelik die inhoud van jou gps sodra jy hom aan 'n rekenaar koppel
en kan ook "Trcaks" vinnig verander na "Routes". Laai bogenoemde sagteware gratis af van internet.

# Beplan 'n roete met 'n klomp waypoints in Mapsource.
# Send to Device.
# Nuvi 500.
# Merk "Waypoints" en "Routes".
# Send.
# The data was succesfully sent.
# Ok.
# Ontkoppel gps.
#"Tools", "My Data".
# Klik "My Data".
# "Import Route From File".
# Merk die roete.
# "Import".
# "Data imported succesfully".
# "Ok"
# "Where to", "Custom Routes".
# Klik "Custom Routes".
Ek het 11 Waypoints geplaas en het 9 oranje, 1 groen en 1 geruite vlaggie op my 500.
Het dieselfde roete vanoggend met 2 ander 500 gedoen en geen vlaggies (wayoints) is minder nie.
Jammer as ek langdradig is, maar wou net seker maak jy doen dieselfde as ek.

Johan, ek het probeer, maar sommer hier by die intrapslag is daar 'n klip in die drinkwater. Ek dink dis hoekom ek dit nie regkry nie. Wanneer ek "send to device" kliek, is die enigste opsie wat oop is "Routes". Waypoints en die ander is uitgedoof. Dis hoekom hulle nie wys nie.
Ek is besig om Basecamp af te laai. Hy sukkel effens. Laai so 2MB af en sê hy is klaar. Okay hy het nou gestop by 4.7Mb. So dis ook 'n nagmerrie. Maar ek sal nie moed opgee nie.

I have downloaded an older version of Basecamp V 3.3.3. After installation it asked to update to V 4.0.2 which I allowed, but upon installation it says " File corrupt". Ok this is not your problem, but just for info.
The V 3.3.3 is working good in anyway. I have send the route that I have created with Mapsource to my Nuvi 500 with Basecamp and it is all there. I will test it, but it says all the waypoints are there.

I still do not know why Mapsource do not allow to export all the waypoints.

Sometimes when you push the "Find Button" in Mapsource it doesn't pick up your device emeadly and
get confused by any removable disks. Make sure it picks up the 500. If there is waypoints in Mapsource
it will be shown and you can sellect them.
