I bought a Garmin 3760LT middle last year. The GPS works great exept for the times that I am in Gauteng area.
Every time I drive into that area the GPS automataically restarts, stays on for about 10 min and then restarts again, and so it goes on until I get out of that area i.e. drive to bloem.
The unit is updated fully, so that cannot be the fault.
Can someone please help.

Straight from the Product and Safety Information book of the device.

That last part is what irritates the cr@p out of me. All the time and money spent keeping a GPS up to date, only for it to be rendered useless by stray signals that cause it to operate erratically and just because the FCC says so.FCC Compliance
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this
this device may not cause harmful interference and (2) this device

What Maps are you using ?Melwin wrote:I bought a Garmin 3760LT middle last year. The GPS works great exept for the times that I am in Gauteng area.

Do you have 2 Mapsets of the same area selected at the same time ?
Have you deleted trip log lately ?
Have you done a hard reset ? (save your user data to the computer first.)
Otto Roth had the same problem a while ago in CT on a 3790. Maybe he can comment to what fixed it ?
After Firmware or Map update a hard reset is recommended by tech support.

Re: GPS Restarting by itself...
Hi Melwin
I have exactly the same problem with my 3760LT when navigating with "Routes" now "Trips" planned on the PC ant transferred to the unit. I have found this can occur randomly at any point in the route and could be in a town or in the country but usually near a waypoint or "shaping point" as they now call it. It happens with both Garmap maps or CN maps (only 1 selected with hard reset in between etc)
I have used my old Nuvi 710 with many planned routes around RSA as well as longer routes into Zambia, Mozambique..
Botswana etc without the slightest problem
Reading the overseas forums this seems to be a real problem Garmin has with the later model Nuvis and seems to stem from the change Garmin made from the old "Route Planner" which worked well to the new "Trip Planner" which no one seems to like or be able to get to work properly when using way or shaping points to plan a route.
Hopefully Garmin will come up with a solution and software upgrade sometime

Re: GPS Restarting by itself...
Thank you very much guys. I spoke with a Garmin representative here in Bloemfontein today and he told me that new firmware and software came out about 3 weeks back. So I am going to update everything AGAIN and see what happens. As well as get a new Map set.
I saw that Streetmaps 2011.3 was selected as well as City Navigator. I de-selected City Navigator.
