Re: Free map updates for life with new Garmins
Unfortunately Johan non of the Garmin/Garmap chaps are registered here that we are aware of. The Moderators at their official site used to point them to anything they may be need to be made aware and their response were required. We can try to do the same here, it maybe mutually beneficially to us all.

Must we invite Terence Edwards to join the Forum?, Jan. I will do that with the Mods permission.
Just want to say thanks to Justin Chizyuka for his service at the helpdesk this morning.

I can't see why not? We are visible on the internet in any case and he may join if he wants to. We already have Netstar on board, but we may not have Garmin's buy-in due to pressure from Garmin Worldwide (to think a company started by 2 people with humble beginnings).

Re: Free map updates for life with new Garmins
This Free Map updates for life has only raised the price of the Advanced units by R100 and the Premium units by R150.
I think that this is a Great Deal by Garmin South Africa.
This Small increase in unit price has a real value of About R700 if you keep the unit for 2 years. (More if you keep it for longer.)
The LMT can also be transferred to the new owner if you sell the unit. (This is the Policy at the moment, it could change).
Kudus to Garmin and may they keep this policy in place for the future.

Re: Free map updates for life with new Garmins
I know its a pain in the butt to read these things but promise yourself that you will read every single EULA for every single product that comes out - especially the newer products before you take that leap of faith. As an example and perhaps not relevant to Free or Lifetime Maps per se but can anyone define what "Adventures"* are? At least it's now out in the market that the meaning of 'Lifetime' is not that of the purchaser. One has to think, because a newer map 2 years hence will not require you to think at all, that a few million easy bucks could be made simply by putting our local CPA to work. Who reads those things anyway.
These days (perhaps been so for the lifetime of a connected World) that one first has to "Register" before you can proceed to any of the next steps no matter how keen you are to lay your hands on update number 9. Let the buyer beware
* Re-read the EULA for BaseCamp if you actually use the programme at all
