Name Changes In Ekurhuleni

The Ekurhuleni Council has adopted renaming of geographical features during its sitting on February 21, and I quote....

•The Gillooly’s Interchange on the N12 is to be renamed after George Bizos.

•Van Buuren off-ramp has been recommended for renaming after former South African President Thabo Mbeki who championed the African Renaissance on the continent.

•Edenvale (N12) – Lungile Mtshali.

•Barbara Road (R24) to Lazarus Mawela.

•Voortrekker Street that off-ramp from R21 freeway in Kempton Park is proposed to be named Amon Ngulele.

•Tokoza (R59) – Dumisa Ntuli.

•Olifantsfontein Road has been recommended to be renamed Winnie Madikizela Mandela Road.

Other street name changes include Mary Moodley (Snake Road), Magaret Gazo (Ego Road) and Sam Ntuli (Kliprivier Road).
These names will go through a consultation process through an advertisement in the local media for comments and objections, while public hearings and constituency meetings organised and facilitated by councillors will also be held
