Recall Notification

I own a nuvi 715, given to me under warranty, 2 years ago when my 710 packed up. Last week I thought I'll try Garmin's myDashboard for a change, to check for the latest firmware updates. When I selected my device on the website it popped up with a Recall notification with the following message -
Your nüvi® 715 has been recalled. Please complete our return process and we will replace it free of charge.
Also -
The recalled devices include a small subset of the following nüvi model numbers:

nüvi 200W, 250W, & 260W
nüvi 7xx (where xx is a two-digit number)
Have anyone seen/heard this before?

If this is the case, the next best step is to print out this message and go to the nearest Garmin offices with the printed document. Alternatively, contact them directly to find out what you need to do and explain to them your situation. If I am not mistaken, the Garmin contact details are listed somewhere here on the forum.

I don't think we have Garmin offices in Bloem, so I sent all the details to support@garmin.co.za. I'll give them a day or two to respond, then try something else.

The notice you quote there is the exact wording of the Aug 2010 battery recall of certain models. It could be that you using "My Dashboard" triggered a belated notification to you. If you go to https://my.garmin.com/rma/recallLanding.faces there is a field you can enter the unit serial number to check if your unit is effected.

So, I finally received my replacement unit today. Unfortunately it's not the 3590 dasilvarsa mentioned. It was replaced with a 715 again, but at least I found a 1G sd card with Garmap SSA 2012.3 in it!
All in all, good service from Garmin, especially for a unit 2 years out of warranty.

That great news Bennie. There may be a few other users that may benefit form looking at the Garmin website to see if their units are listed
