ADSL DOWN COUNTRY WIDE

The forum went down yesterday around 15:30 Darryl were able to restore it around 21:00 last night. The problem was caused because a country wide collapse of all ADSL lines effecting all service providers. Many thanks to Darryl for leaving a company function early to restart the system when he became aware of the problem

Cape Town – ADSL users across the country are slowly reconnecting after subscribers reported ASDL downtime on Friday afternoon.

The outages, which started roughly at 15:30, affected all ADSL subscribers across all service providers, Money Web reported.

MWEB tweeted: There's a nationwide outage affecting all ADSL customers across all service providers.

By 16:00 MWEB said: We are seeing signs that more regions are coming back online. Holding thumbs that this will all be resolved soon.

Telkom has also confirmed the downtime.

Telkom spokesperson Pynee Chetty told HumanIPO that Telkom was investigating the matter.

“It is in the best interests of Telkom and our customers to fix the problem as soon as possible,” he sqaid.

Chetty said that some Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers (DSLAMs), which suffered outages were restarting on their own.

“As soon as it is identified we will get onto fixing it,” he said.

Afrihost internet provide posted on their Facebook page, that “We've received confirmation that Telkom has a nationwide outage affecting DSL. We unfortunately don't have an ETA. We'll update with more info”.
