Adding POI's to TomTom GPSr

#2093

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

Prior to installing these POI's, PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF THE DEVICE!! Here is a brief howto to add the same RHD POI's used here for a Garmin GPSr to a TomTom GPSr (the GPSr used here is a TomTom ONE v3) and this procedure should work with all TomTom GPSr that use TomTom HOME software. To begin with, download the zip file below:-
TomTom POI's.zip
Save this file to a convenient place (eg. Desktop or C:\ drive and extract the contents to a familiar location you will be working from). I have used the C:\ drive in my example and have tried to stay as device neutral as possible.

With the files extracted, copy the sounds folder from the TomTom POI's folder:-
TomTom POI 2.png
And paste it in the root folder of the TomTom device once it is connected to the PC/laptop:-
TomTom POI 3.png
Then copy the other files (*.bmp and *.ov2) from the TomTom POI's folder:-
TomTom POI 4.png
And paste it in the Southern_Africa folder on the TomTom device:-
TomTom POI 5.png
Once you have done these steps, you now have the RHD POI's installed on the TomTom GPSr and all you have to do now is associate the sound with the POI (which follows on from here).

Hope this helps.
