Garmin DriveSmart and Smartlink Connection issues

Hi Guys,

Ive been interested in the DriveSmart model for awhile now but it seems as if many users on Amazon have experienced connection issues with the Smartlink app. I use the smartlink app religiously with my 2497 and couldn't do with out it so this reported connection issue with the DriveSmart is a deal breaker. Apparently the bluetooth connection keeps failing and you have to reconnect each time. At the moment my smartlink connection with 2497 has yet to fail once after a year of usage.

Can anyone who owns a DriveSmart and uses Smartlink comment on this? Im hoping that firmware updates have resolved this issue as the posts on Amazon are from mid 2016.
