This is an SADF grid position reference?

What grid should I select for 810170TL on BaseCamp's Grid Measurement Unit tab?

The reason: "16 Feb 1982: 80875530BC Rifleman Daniel Cloete from 911 Battalion SWATF accidentally drowned in a flooded shona/river bed at Grid Reference position 810170TL while on patrol in the Kaokoveld. He was 18."

First challenge is, what is the SADF Grid and Datum. Without that, cannot see what the input format is.

I am not sure if it anyway near but I get it in the Etosha Pan area
S18.83096 E 16.71778 but I can be way off.

I used MGRS 84

Shaun I had another look at it and also converted it back to MGRS using another converter. The position I gave is completely wrong see my screenshot
